I’m Esme, the artist behind The Loon in the Moon.

My work is rooted in storytelling, emotion, and the quiet moments that shape who we are. I create art to be felt — to hold memory, meaning, and connection in a tangible way.

I had a difficult childhood. My mom parented with a brand of cruelty and neglect that made it hard to…live.

Art became something I returned to again and again to find peace and strength, and to express what I was feeling when I didn’t have the words. Poetry, sketching, and writing became a safe space for me to exist.

That relationship with art never left.

It shaped how I see the world, and how I create within it. It taught me patience, emotional awareness, and how to sit with complexity without turning away from it.

Today, I carry that into my work. I approach each piece with care, honesty, and intention — whether I’m illustrating a story, designing something meaningful, or creating a piece that holds someone’s memory or experience.

This work is not just about aesthetics. It’s about creating something real. Something that connects. Something that allows people to feel seen.
